Every year sees an avalanche of responses to our chosen image evaluating its quality and the importance of the event. It is not usually for a few years that we can truly and objectively determine whether the particular event really did have the impact our panel gave it. We find ourselves in an age when photographs have great power, if not greater than ever before, mainly thanks to the internet and the influence of social media. At the same time, photojournalism finds itself in crisis as a result of many external factors. The Czech Press Photo contest’s role is to operate as a notional photo bank of modern history, to remain preserved through photography. Through exhibitions, these events are regularly presented to the general public.
The exhibition will be open every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm within Prague’s Karolinum.
