Picture description: Blazing Hell, Skiers’ Nirvana: Between Lava and Powder
Series description: Alpinist Matěj Bernát set a speed record in February, climbing from the sea to the summit of active Mount Etna in just four and a half hours. He covered 3,500 meters of ascent using a road bike and ski-mountaineering gear. The climb took place on the volcano’s northern side, while major eruptions were unfolding in the south. The next day, he skied right next to a glowing stream of lava.
